Oh, why stop there? It is also possible to clone the database using storage snapshots, like EMC, Hitachi or NetApp. These days Pure storage and XTREM_IO are also very popular. Depending on the storage type, various licenses may be required: TimeFinder, FlexClone, SnapVault, HUR or something similar.
