Thanks all those who replied. It is going to be a physical standby. If we lose our data center, we will lose all our primaries. We want to use standbys for DR. But the business group also wants to use them up and running during planned outages on the primary site (like patch application, etc). With that background, we could be having several databases for various applications dataguarded. Putting all of them in one server does not sound like a good idea to me which is why I am trying to get the opinion of fellow dbas.
