Hi all,

RAC 11.2.0.3.1 on RHEL 5.7
with role separation (different groups for sysasm and sysdba)

I've noticed that the directory <diagnostic_dest>/rdbms and the files inside it
are owned by the group asmadmin (not oinstall).

The oracle software owner is defined like this:

$ id oracle
uid=xxxx(oracle) gid=xxxx(oinstall)
groups=xxxx(dba),xxxx(asmdba),xxxx(oinstall)

[grid_at_xxxx diag]$ ls -l
total 36

drwxrwxr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Feb 14 16:30 asm
drwxrwxr-x 3 oracle oinstall 4096 Feb 23 14:08 clients
drwxrwxr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Feb 14 16:30 crs
drwxrwxr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Feb 14 16:30 diagtool
drwxrwxr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Feb 14 16:30 lsnrctl
drwxrwxr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Feb 14 16:30 netcman
drwxrwxr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Feb 14 16:30 ofm
drwxr-xr-x 3 oracle asmadmin 4096 Feb 28 10:09 rdbms
drwxrwxr-x 2 oracle oinstall 4096 Feb 14 16:30 tnslsnr

The EM GC agent (11.1) is complaining because it's not able to read the database alert log (errors in emagent_perl.trc), adding the agent owner to the asmadmin group makes the errors disappear, but I'd like to know:

  1. Is asmadmin the expected/correct owner group?
  2. For those who use such configuration - who's the owner group in your environments?

I've already opened an SR, but I'm still waiting for reply.

Thanks
Dimitre
