I've used just about everything including Powerpoint and Keynote, Visio, Google SketchUp, and Concept Draw Pro.
I have used Visio for more drawings than any other tool, over many years. The only reason I stopped using it is that I've stopped using Microsoft Windows. I tried to replace Visio with Concept Draw Pro (since Visio is not available for the Mac), but I grew too frustrated with Concept Draw Pro's limitations and idiosyncrasies (like its nagging upgrade center) to mess with it anymore.

By far my favorite is Adobe Illustrator, but Ai is expensive and the learning curve really is difficult. But you can do anything—and I mean * anything—*with it, in any resolution you want.
