We have environments like this, but our databases don't start up when the server starts. When there is a reboot of our servers (AIX), the UNIX Admin is there to mount the file systems and the DBA is there to start the database. At that point we have our db's sourced individually as well.

Subject: multi-home servers

those of you out there running multiple oracle homes, potentially with multiple oracle software owners and certainly with multiple listeners on Linux. How do you control db and listener startup at boot time? dbstart seems entirely inadequate.
