Migrate client/server to webforms

We are going through a project migrating our 6i client server forms to 9.0.4 webforms and we are suffering from poor performance due to extra validation. Anybody know if you can trick the middle-tier to run as if it was client server as we are looking at having to rewrite alot of forms.
