Home -> Community -> Mailing Lists -> Oracle-L -> RE: Anyone used 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.1.0) for Solaris Operating System (x86-64)
>>>I must agree with Gogala : Solaris Intel exists since more than 10
years and never break through.
...Oracle never ported 9i to Solx86 as a way to force Linux adoption in hopes of usurping control over an OS.
>>>Beside that, what do you have more with Solaris Intel than Linux ?
... Solaris is not a hobby, nor is Solaris a bad copy of Linux. Linux
has
to be taken with a grain of salt. Its MTBF can be mitagated with very
sophisitcated
clustering, but on its own it is pretty frail. Yes, I know, sometimes
man bites dog
and someone is going to reply with output from the uptime(1) command
that
shows some Linux server in some broom closet that has been up for a long
time.
Hey, I'll beat you to it, but this is one node in a mixed-OS production
PolyServe
cluster (how RHAS3 can stay alive that long is well beyond my
imagination):
$ uname -a
Linux rhas3.pdx.polyserve.com 2.4.21-4.EL #1 Fri Oct 3 18:13:58 EDT 2003
i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
$ uptime
09:25:51 up 196 days, 17:35, 2 users, load average: 0.00, 0.00, 0.00
