Well, not everyone starts as an expert.
For an interview, it is most useful if you can show you understand why someone would build a DW. Try reading the articles at this web page: http://www.ralphkimball.com/html/articlesFundamental.html

Also a DBA experienced in OLTP systems must show a flexibility to accept strange new concepts if they want to switch to DW. Many DBAs can't make the transition.
