Brian,

I don't know if there is a archive search for this list but this exact subject; "Using Tivoli TSM-TDPO", just came up about a week ago. I will look for my old post.

Short answer...
Tivoli TSM-TDPO;
Works well, hard (rather "painful") to configure, docs not good.

Subject: Tivoli Storage Manager Implementation

[Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition for AIX 5L]

Hi Everyone,

Our company is considering a purchase of Tivoli Storage Manager for all its enterprise backup needs. Currently our dev and testing db's are coming online. Production db's are not to online for another six months - and are not going to run 24/7. So it looks like it will be 'consistent backups' via Tivoli.

It all sounds so rosy from the vendors presentations, but as a neophyte DBA is there anything I should aware of or brush up on? I originally thought 'Great no pager!' but I guess RMAN or some aspect of this setup could stop working one night at 3am. Your thoughts?

Best Regards,
Brian Peasey
