Hey Dave,

I am attempting to do that but when I select the standby database, it reports an error.

Physical standby validation error: The selected standby's activation ID does not match the primary.

Chris,

When using dataguard the actual HOSTNAME of the primary/backup nodes are imbedded in the dataguard configuration. I believe you will need to remove and recreate the dataguard configuration.

Thanks,

Dave

Would that really be a factor? The primary was shutdown, logs stopped shipping.

moved a bunch of databases from individual servers to a new monster server. So Im wondering if that is killing me. Perhaps the hostname is coded into the archive log file??? Dunno.
