Partitioning question (duplicate?)

Pardon if this is a duplicate, but the original has not shown up on the list after 3 hours...

Is it possible in 9.2 to partition on a function?

I have a table with a date column and I would like to partition by month, regardless of the year. For example, data from January 2003 or January 2004 would go into the same partition. Any sneaky ideas on how to accomplish this without changing the data structures.
