That was funny.

Thanks, I needed that.

: )

Another funny thread might be silly instance names people use for development databases, but then oops! The database is now production.

I had one like that:
I created a database under our 7.1.6, because "We need an Oracle database for development." "When?" "Yesterday!"
I gave them usernames and passwords and made sure that TNSNAMES was configured.
In monitoring a few weeks later, I noticed no activity, so I asked them,
"That database you wanted right away isn't being used, is there a problem."
"No problem, we just had a delay, we're going to be starting any day now."
Two years later, I was upgrading some databases to 8. The database had still not been used, other than a few objects created. "Should I upgrade this database?", I asked. "Oh no, don't bother, we're not using it." "Can I delete it?" "No, please keep it around. We're going to need it anytime now."
A year later, I backed it up with export to tape, in case I ever wanted it back, and deleted it (along with Oracle home for 7.1.6). Five years later, I don't think anyone ever noticed that it was gone. The tape is in a drawer somewhere.
Most troublefree database I've ever had.
