It's been over fifteen years (time flies) but I recieved a 'TS-something or other' in about 9 months, perhaps less. At least I spent 9 months working at a non-clearence job, then moved up to the job requiring clearance. IIRC, for at least part of that time I was waiting for a job opening, not the actual clearance. I can't imagine that a PFC in the Marines rated expedition for a clearance.
