Guys,

my DB is on 8.1.6.0.0. / Win2k.
I have log switch every 5 minutes.
my redo log file size is 5MB.

LOG_CHECKPOINT_INTERVAL = 10000
LOG_CHECKPOINT_TIMEOUT = 1800 my statspack report shows

                         Avg
                          Total Wait    wait     Waits
Event waits Timeouts Time(cs) (ms) /txn
------------------   -----  -------   ---------- -----
log file sync
        2,468,395    703     523,921     2        1.1  log file
switch completion
        2,570        210     48,112      187      0.0

Will increasing my log file size reduce the above contention ???

IF SO ...........
I would like to increase my redo log file size from 5MB to 30MB so that log switch
occurs every 30 mins. now what should be the value of LOG_CHECKPOINT_INTERVAL ? Oracle suggets it be greater than log file size . should it be 30 MB / 512 ?
512 is my OS block size.
or should i just increase it to 1000000 ??

Kindly throw some light on this guys.
TIA.
