Guys,

I am upgrading from 9i to 10g. I have a few questions

- Can I make my 9i home as 10g home
- Can i upgrade and lose no objects or is it that it is going to be a new installation
- Does the developer pack come along with the database in 10g. I see that while using Universal Installer to install. If this is th e case then what will happen of the 10g developer suit that I already have with on my computer ( I have 9i database and 10g developer suite on my computer currently)

Thanks

- Das

No unless you first deinstall your 9i version

You have to install new software and upgrade the database but you don't lose anything.

Thanks Michel.

Now while installing I have come across this page which puzzles me..

It show a message ' To register this instance of OracleAS 10G with and existing Oracle internet Directory, enter hostname and post where Oracle Internet Directory is located

Hostname -
Port -

What is this for? and what should I fill here?

What are you trying to install?
Is this RDBMS? Is this AS? Is this other Oracle products?

Thanks for the reply

in the beginning of the installation I am given just 3 option

- Application Server 10g
- OracleAS Infrastructure 10g
- OracleAS Developer kits 10g

Is this what I should be seeing if I am trying to install the database 10g?

Sorry, you post this in RDBMS Administration forum, so wrong answers.

I move this to the General forum until someone move it in a more appropriate one.

Michel
