I had sys admin install oracle software however he set up my $ORACLE_HOME incorrectly. I wanted /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0 but he declared it as /u01/app/oracle/product.

First question:
Do I need to uninstall software and then re-declare $ORACLE_HOME as specified or is there another way

Second question:
Can someone please direct me to site or tell me how to create my database manually in a step-by-step for dummies? Embarassed

I wouldn't know how to relocate ORACLE_HOME other than installing it into another directory. However, if your Oracle database is installed properly and works fine, I'd leave it alone. What difference does it really make? OK, I'd understand if you were a DBA administering several installations on single machine, but - saying that someone else did that for you, I believe you are either a developer or ... something else Smile
