Dear All,

Hi everyone,

I am planning to study Oracle Applications. At the time of study, few questions are in my mind about the functionality of apps. They are

Difference between Discreet Manufacturing and Process manufacturing

What is the functionality of Replicate Seed Data? When and after which setup we have to use this?

Will bank accounts be shared by legal entities

Are all invoices to be entered manually or are there invoices that will be imported from other systems?

Are there any specific legal requirements we should be aware of regarding AP tax reporting (e.g. VAT reporting)

How do you need to be able to view supplier balances/transactions (e.g. for related companies)

Thanx in advance.

Hi,

1.Difference between Discreet Manufacturing and Process manufacturing
Ans: Discrete Mfg is the Reversable and Process is non-reversable.
Eg: Discrete Mfg:
You can make the computer, then you de-assemble it.
Process Mfg:
You can make the capsul/tablet, here you can't reversable.

2.What is the functionality of Replicate Seed Data? When and after which setup we have to use this?
Ans: After Multi-org setup has done in your instance. You hav to run this in System Adminstrator.
Eg: To enable the Purchsaing options.

Thanks & Regards,

It is your system - you tell us - are there invoices that will be imported from other systems? Receivables has a facility called AutoInvoice that will import invoices. Payables has an XML Gateway for invoices which uses the Open Applications Group 171_Process_Invoice_002.dtd (version 7.2.1). Both Payables and Receivables have EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) facilities to allow the sending and receiving of invoice and payment information.

We don't know. Which country or countries are you operating in? Legal requirements will vary from country to country. Consult the web pages for the VAT authority in each country and refer to the Oracle manual for each country.

There is an AP/AR Netting Report, but I can't remember off the top of my head whether it is in AP or AR. You could look it up for yourself in the User Guides which can be downloaded, with all of the other Applications Documentation from http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/applications.html.

Cool HTH
