Hi
I hae an applicaiton developedin forms6i that was running fine on Oracle9i database. When the database was upgraded to Oracle10g release2, i have been facing problems with the CLOB datatatype that i was using in one of the forms. Insertion through the forms take place fine. But when I query for the same it gives me an error - inconsistent datatype. the same query works fine in SQLplus and reports 6i. WHat could be the problem? IS there any issues with regard to this problem?
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I was using char datatype with width given as 16000.
Later i tried giving datatype as LONG as well. still it gives me the same error. forms unable to query. inconsistent datatype.

Thanks.
I could have used LONG datatype( you mean on the form or Database). If in database But I also use the field as a part of the query. Then I think I will have to use work arounds for it right. And the length of some of the rows is more than 4000 bytes.
In forms I have tried using both LONG as well as CHAR as datatype. Both returns the same error message. Length was given as 16000.
Is there any issues with forms6i querying for CLOB data? Insertion works fine as I mentioned earlier. Or is there any database configuration to be done??
Thanks

No ihavent googled clob 10g.
Oracle10g does not five me any error message. Rather it is Forms6i which give me the message unable to query. It gives the message inconsistent datatypes

Hi, i'm currently testing an upgrade to 10g with form 6i. I had the same problem and I used a long 32767 and it was working well. Whats the max length of you data in your table?
