I have successfulyl configure Oracle to access a remote Microsoft Access Database using the HS service and I can do selects and see the tables. But When I try to do an insert I get the error
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message
[Generic Connectivity Using ODBC][Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver]
Operation must use an updateable query. (SQL State: 00000; SQL Code: -3035)
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from ACCESS1

I have checked the Acess databse and it is not read only .
Can any one help

If you were using Oracle Forms I would say that you haven't told the form to use the correct 'key mode'. Is there a 'key mode' attribute when defining an ODBC source to Oracle?

Look at http://www.minisoft.com/pages/middleware/ODBC_UNIX/odbc_oracle_faq.htm (do a find on '02063') and http://www.datadirect.com/developer/odbc/oracle_heterogeneous/index.ssp (do a find on '02063') and http://www.datadirect.com/developer/odbc/docs/oracle_hs.pdf (again do a find on '02063').

David,
Thanks for the input. I will read up on it , as I am usre it will give me some added knowledge.
I have since solved the puzzle.
The problem was that the Acess database was sitting in a different domain , once I moved it to the same domain in which the database was running I was able to update.
Thank you once again for your time and advice
