I’m using Oracle10G REL 2 on Solaris10 and having Processor: 400MHZ, 4CPU Memory : 4GB. I wanted to know when we execute a SQL query, does oracle perform parallel execution by default or do I need to enable it session/ system level or do I need to use hint in SQL query? How do I monitor whether parallel execution is happening or not and it’s impact on performance ? Does Oracle recommend parallel execution using hint if having more than one CPU?

Regards,

Alina
