Well, this is an undocumented parameter. So, who knows? Here is my guess:

xpl = Explain Plan
peeked binds = bind variables collected from from SQL statements
log size = size of memory area in bytes

I couldn't guess about eXplain PLan. Maybe you're right. The only thing that confuse me is "explain plan does not peek at the bind variable" (c) Wolfgang Breitling
It's very interesting if I am able (or not) to see peeked bind variables (in views, fixed tables etc.)

This parameter is only available from Oracle 10.2.0 - your Oracle 9i document is not going to help a lot.

Looks like Oracle will support this in future. Who knows, maybe it will be a new feature of Oracle 11g!
