Hi all,

I was just wondering...

RAC nodes need to have a 'similar' hardware setup, just how similar do they have to be?

1.) processor - type? speed? number of processors?
2.) memory - size of memory?
3.) OS - same version/patch set?
4.) If anything else needs to be the same please do add...

Thanks!

Although not recommended, you can get away with different processor types (must be the same processor architecture!); with different amounts of CPU's and memory.

Add to your list:

- Must see the same disks from all nodes
- Must share a private interconnect
- Same public and private NIC's
- Etc.
