Unable to perform the backup because the database is closed. [message #179719]

I'm getting the error message "Unable to perform the backup because the database is closed." when trying to backup my Database through EM GC. I've restarted the db and I'm still getting the error. I know for sure that this worked last week. Any Ideas?

any changes in tnsnames.ora or listener.ora or sqlnet.ora files??

it is hard to help you..
I'm used to EM, can you try rman manually?

Try doing from the command prompt and see if you are able to connect to peform a backup.

To connect to Recovery Manager from the OS.

Eg:
---
$ rman target internal/internal@acct catalog rman/rman@pay
RMAN>run{
backup database;
}

If it doesnt work try,
RMAN > reset database;

and re-issue the backup commands.

Most important thing to do is to guarantee your database backups, so, try to do it manually and let OEM step aside for a while...it is an idea...
i'm not good with EM, sorry.
