Dear Friend/Sirs

I am working with oracle 9i on linux os.i had face problem of my temporary tablespace, Size of tempfile grows to limit of a partition(10GB) than no space left for new sort operation and my database remain hang.I have to delete the tempfile by OS command because i have to create new default temporary tablespace with tempfile .but now i can't delete the previouse temporary tablespace.now i set the maxsize of 1 gb for my new tempfile.
Is there anyway to shrink the tempfile or is there any way to find out faulty application by which my tempfile goes up.i'm not able to shrink my tempfile.
Please give me any solution u have or refer me some online sites so that i can understand much about temporary tablespace issues.
Hoping for the positive reply

Regards

Jimmy.

Seems you have autoextend on. Could you check?
Temporary tablespace of temporary type (regular datafiles are of permanent type) does not need any maintenence (in most cases). So post the ddl of your temporary tablespace.
It is OK and very common if the temporary tablespaces are 99% full. These temporary segments are always re-used.
