Hi there,

I have just discovered that
sys_context('USERENV','OS_USER')

using SQL Developer (running on Windows XP) returns NULL. It works fine in SQLPlus and TOAD. Does anybody know what causes this behaviour and how to avoid it?

Well, I think the 'Why' is because SQL Developer is still as buggy as a thing that bugs like, that's been sprayed with bug attractant, and put in a field full of bugs.

It also fails to find the Terminal context, and gets the Host wrong (at least it does over here.

If you use Sql Developer, I'd put a post on their forum raising these points.

I see what you mean. Found a posting on OTN regarding this topic, seems to be a bug that is allegedly fixed with the latest update, but it doesn't work here (v. 1.0.0.15.27).
