my boss wants to send me to a Oracle 10g DB Admin course and we currently use 9i. Will this course still benefit me? Are there a lot of differences between the two versions? thanks!

you can always self-school yourself. But taking a course is not bad either!.

But even if we do not plan to upgrade to 10g, I'll still benefit?

Ofcourse unless you are never ever going to upgrade from 9i
or
You being with the same employer for ever!.

No fun intended. 9i is about to be desupported real soon.
Whether you like it or not, In this IT world, you have to update yourself constantly. IMHO, It may not be beneficial for your company. But for you , YES YES YES.
