Ploblem connect oracle by Vb application [message #120010]

Hello ,

I using vb application to connect oracle db via odbc. Sometimes
it 's work but other times it raises the error "-2147467259 : Oracle error occurred , but error message could not be retrived form oracle" .I tried to install new mdac (2. Cool

and reinstall
oracle client but it 's still error.
However i tried to test connect via odbc testing and sqlplus
it's work !!!

The example syntax as the following :

Provider=MSDAORA.1;User ID=system;Password=manager;
Data Source=database;Persist Security Info=False

os client : windows 2000 pro
oracle client : oracle 8.1.7

os server : sun solaris
db server : oracle 8.1.7

Any suggestion ?

Error #: -2147467259

Reason: [Oracle][ODBC][Ora]ORA-12545: Connect failed because target host or object does not exist

Whenever this error comes, do check the status of listener and database on DB server:

Both listener and database should be up and running.

Thanks,but when i got the error i tried to
connect db via sqlplus and check listener,database
everything is ok !!!. What happend ? and thanks for advance.

HI

One possible reason is timeout in connectivity.
Do check for continuous ping response during the time u r testing ur application connectivity with oracle.
