I need to know if it would be rasonable possible to install an Oracle 9i client on a machine running Oracle 6i runtime???

I have an application I'm developing using VB.Net and Oracle 9i, but the machines I'm going to install it on are all running an Oracle 6i runtime application. Should I work with both applications on the machines or redo the older 6i app. in the new system????
