Sir,

When I am giving a wrong user name and password in oracle it is showing

.....You are no longer connected to Oracle

After that when I am typing show user it is showing

"''"

What is this blank means? If I am not connected to Oracle then where at the SQL> prompt I am. Is this a dummy user?

SQL*Plus is a command line tool. It just shows it prompt, allowing you to reconnect. 'USER', in your case, is an SQL*Plus variable. It just interprets your command.
