The general rule:
- 25GB for the software and database
- 10GB for the software staging areas
(loaded from CDs including Applications and other
Software from CDs)
- 10-25 GB for patches, log/out files, archives,
disk backups, temporary files, etc Recommend a minimum of 35GB and
preferably 50GB
before RAID.
RAID is necessary. RAID 1+0 is preferred.
--------------------------
A total of 80 GB Minimum

============================================================================
==========

TYPICAL ERP CONFIGURATION
Application and Web Servers
2CPU, 2GB RAM. Run Forms, Reports,and Apache.
Database Servers (e.g. Sun 4500)
4CPU, 4GB RAM. Run Database, Concurrent Managers and Administration
components as well as Clustering

ERP + CRM (Oracle iStore) Configuration
Web Servers (e.g. Sun 420R) - 2CPU, 2GB RAM.
Run Apache and iStore applications. Put
web server and iStore JSP outside of firewall. The firewall will have to
allow JDBC
(SQL*Net) through it. Checkpoint and other firewalls have a "stateful
inspection" in
that even if the SQL port is open, only true SQL*Net traffic is allowed by
looking at
the packet signature.

Application Servers
2CPU, 2GB RAM. Run Forms, Reports, Apache,iStore
initially (only intranet access for testing) then
move Apache and the iStore application to the web
server outside the firewall to allow Internet
access.

Database Servers
4CPU, 4GB RAM. Run Database, ConcurrentManager and Administration
components as well
as Clustering

Case 1: When You are looking for only Financials
I. ERP (Financials)
Recommendations:
Apps Tier:
1 CPU per 50-60 users, 12-15MB per user
DB Tier:
1 CPU per 50-60 users, 5MB per user, each
concurrent
process counts as 1 user
(20 MB per limited concurrent manager and 50MB per unlimited concurrent
manager),
500MB Minimum SGA (depends on the amount of pinning).

Case 2:When You are looking only for Manufacturing
Module (Orders, Inventory, Manufacturing)

Recommendations:
Apps Tier
1 CPU per 50 users, 12-15 MB per user

DB Tier:
1 CPU per 50 users, 5MB per user, 15MB per user (apps) and 20 MB for each
concurrent
manager process - each concurrent process counts as 1 user (Increase if
there are other processes on the server that will be using CPU memory,
600MB SGA
Minimum

Case #3 :When ERP+CRM
III. ERP + CRM
Recommendations:
Apps Tier:
1 CPU per 25-40 users, 20MB per user (due to JSP
requirements)
DB Tier:
1 CPU per 25-60 users (because the application is
probably critical to the company's core
business), 5MB per user, each concurrent process counts as 1 user (limited
concurrent
managers=20MB per concurrent process, unlimited concurrent managers=50MB
per concurrent process), 600MB SGA Minimum
CLIENT WORKSTATIONS:
These are the minimum requirements recommended for the client workstations
for 11i:
· Minimum 250MHz+ processor. A faster processor will provide better
performance!
· Minimum of 128 MB RAM
· Color palette must be able to run a minimum of 256 colors (a Java
requirement).
Ideal is 65,536 (64K) colors
· The latest J-Initiator or JDK release that is certified for the Oracle
Applications
Release
· Browser - Either Netscape Navigator 4.5 or higher or
Internet Explorer 5

Hope This Helps
If you need any extra information about server
sizing
write me offline if still doubt.

Anand
