I want to change the location of tnsnames.ora from c:orantnet80admin to some place else. How do I get Oracle to understand the new location of the tnsnames file ??

Not sure why you would want to do this. If you install any more products in the future you may have problems. Take a look in:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE...TNS_ADMIN
