Hi,

Our client run scada system and connect to oracle db. They have a few server that run with oracle client. When we do veeam backup, it trigger that oracle client cannot connect to oracle db.

Thus it will show the scada system is down. Is there any procedure we can do beside stop the oracle client service? Please advice.

Thanks,

The DB is probably unavailable during the backup because it's being taken offline for the duration.
If the DB needs to stay available, you should look at using online backups instead.

Check whether the database is in ARCHIVELOG mode, which indicates that online backups are possible.

SELECT log_mode
FROM v$database;

The oracle data is store on drive E. But i think it's related with connection from oracle client that check connection to DB. The issue is the server not running with database. I have check it. When backup perform, it said error connect to DB.

As Frank said, if your backup is offline then it is the expected behaviour: database is down during the backup.
If the database is still down after the backup, check this process if it restarts the database afterwards. If not, you have to add a step to do so.

If you want to continue to use the database during the backup, you have to use an online backup but your database must in ARCHIVELOG mode and the query Frank gave will check that; please post its result.

I don't know if someone knows Veeam here; please check Veeam site.

Also when you say there is an error, please post the Oracle client error number and message.
