which metric measures "better"?

Consider to actually Read The Fine Manual for answers yourself

As in all things related to ANY db, the answer is "it depends". If the answer were as simple as your question there would be no need for multiple methods.

at what value does number of sessions become "a lot"?

which metric measures "better"?

If you don't answer our questions, why should we answer yours?

@OP, do you have SPL/Full load testing? If yes, it gives complete information about the load and whether you really need more hardware and other aspects.

I just viewed OP's previous topics, all seem to be a one-liner too generic questions. Probably, you are right.

A database can support both shared server and dedicated server connections simultaneously. For example, one client can connect using a dedicated server while a different client connects to the same database using a shared server.

The choice of shared server or dedicated server is up to the client & NOT the DB Server itself.

So how do you measure which is better?
