in the decode function & symbol not working and it is working as Bind Variable [message #623407]

Hi all,

At the compile time it is asking like as bind variable why?

DECODE(attribute2, 'Asf And & Baker', LTRIM(cross_reference, 0),
cross_reference)


Enter value for beyond: /
old 748:        'Asf And & Baker',LTRIM(mcr.cross_reference, 0),
new 748:        'Asf And /', LTRIM(mcr.cross_reference, 0),
