I am reading and exercising in lab "MySQL (5th Edition) (Developer's Library)" by Paul DuBois for preparation. He is an Oracle employee.
It seems that MySQL is simpler than Oracle server. Most stuff I am reading I already know from OCA 11g objectives.

Did anyone took new MySQL beta exams?
Is MySQL simpler, comparing to Oracle server?
Are the exams simpler? OCA level?

SQL is SQL; except that each vendor has customized to their own RDBMS.

Hi Matthew and others

Is Paul DuBois book a good preparation for exams:

1Z0-882 Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5.6 Developer
1Z0-883 Oracle Certified Professional, MySQL 5.6 Database Administrator

If I understand everything there, I will pass exam? Because it's the only up2date MySQL book in Amazon

I know nothing about the book by Paul Dubois and little bout MySQL at this time. I plan to rectify that and probably will create guides for (and take) 882/883 (although there are several guides in front of them). The book I am planning to read initially to dip a toe into MySQL Oracle Database 11g & MySQL 5.6 Developer Handbook by Michael McLaughlin. That's not intended to be an endorsement. I haven't read the book, so can't claim that it is good or bad. I think that it will work well by comparing and contrasting something I know really well (i.e. Oracle 11g) with the equivalents in MySQL.

That's the wrong way to benchmark your knowledge for the exams. You have to make use of the topic lists from OU. It's entirely possible that there are tested topics that the book doesn't even mention, much less cover in sufficient depth. During your preparation, you need to refer to the list and decided whether you feel comfortable that you not only understand specifically what the topic is referring to but that you are comfortable that you know that information.
