Delete stats gather stats [message #566232]

Hi Team,

During STATS gather running for the table, unknowingly i deleted the old stats using EXEC DBMS_STATS.DELETE_TABLE_STATS. I would like to know will it affect the stats gather job currently running for the table and whether my stats will be gathered successfully.

Yes it will affect and yes they will be gathered but as BlackSwan said the best way to know is to just at them after the job will be (or has been now) executed.

I dont see problem deleting the old stats while current stats run, My stats gather went successful, last_analyzed column updated for the table. and also performance of the query on the table is very much improved. Query time came down to 5 second from 2min.

As per my recent analysis we deleted the stats gather before oracle update its internal table or temporary tablespace usage. I thing we have deleted stats when oracle collect the sample data from table. Thanks for your valuable time
