I am trying to connect to my database using sys from console.

E:\>sqlplus sys/password@aws

ERROR:
ORA-28009: connection as SYS should be as SYSDBA or SYSOPER

Usage: SQLPLUS [ [<option>] [<logon>] [<start>] ]
where <option> ::= -H | -V | [ [-L] [-M <o>] [-R <n>] [-S] ]

Try sqlplus 'sys/password@aws as sysdba' or similar things with quotes.

when I try to connect using toad I get ORA-01017:invalid username/password; logon denied

I can only login using enterprise manager. Please advice ,

Now I am able to connect I used double quotes it worked. but not able to login from toad

In which reality does problem exist?
With V11 passwords are CaseSensitive & TOAD does not always do the correct thing!

Fix: TOAD sometimes does the correct thing, but you can't know when.
