Come on, man! That is not your backup script. Post the real thing, not a fake.

Copy and paste your RMAN session, the complete session from rman OS command to RMAN exit command.

Before, Please read OraFAQ Forum Guide and How to use [code] tags and make your code easier to read.
Make sure that lines of code do not exceed 80 characters when you format.
Indent the code, use code tags and align the columns in result.
Use the "Preview Message" button to verify.
Also always post your Oracle version, with 4 decimals.

Regards
Michel

@john watson, complete scripts is as fol

ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome
ORACLE_SID=mydb
export ORACLE_HOME
export ORACLE_SID
BACKUP_MEDIA=DISK
BACKUP_TYPE=FULL_DB_BKUP
export BACKUP_MEDIA
export BACKUP_TYPE
$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman log=$LOG <<EOF
connect target /
connect catalog username/passwd@service1
run
(
allocate channel c1 type disk format '/export/home/oracle/... .rman';
backup tag=full_backup incremental level o database;
release channel c1;
)
exit
EOF

As i dont have internet facility at DC so i cant write the output what i can say is that it start normally by connecting to RMAN and then target and then catalog. then start input datafile path... then it try to allocate channel c1 and thereafter no entry in log file .

kindly guide

regards

That is not the script you are running. For examnple, the brackets are "(" not "{". And you have "o" not "0".

No-one can assist you if you tell lies.

I say "goodbye" because you have not given any information on which one can rely. Time waster! Perhaps someone else is prepared to assist by guessing what you did wrong.

And COPY AND PASTE the ACTUAL script and output and do NOT fake it:

Quote:
backup tag=full_backup incremental level o database;

Is not a valid syntax

Quote:
Cahnnel C1 :starting Piece 1 at 05 -Jan-12

Is not a real RMAN message.

You should NEVER operate against Oracle as OS user "root".
You reap what you sowed!

It would be helpful if you followed Posting Guidelines - http://www.orafaq.com/forum/t/88153/0/

PATH was not successfully exported.

post results of OS commands below

ls -ltr /export/home/oracle/dumps/pdumps/${ORACLE_SID}_${BACKUP_TYPE}_${BACKUP_MEDIA}_${TIMESTAMP}.log
tail -100 /export/home/oracle/dumps/pdumps/${ORACLE_SID}_${BACKUP_TYPE}_${BACKUP_MEDIA}_${TIMESTAMP}.log

This is NOT a real RMAN message.

This does NOT export PATH.
And you didn't either export ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID.

hi,

well as per you advices the 'PATH' was exported but now after 2 weeks successful execution of script, now the same issue appears again. let me tell you that the same script is running at our 14 different station and working fine as receive no complain so far.THE full physical backup size is 450 GB and and now it took 375 GB which is not complete backup.

i am posting the script and RMAN session as fol

        ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/dbhome
	ORACLE_SID=grid51
	PATH=$PATH:$ORACLE_HOME/bin
	export ORACLE_HOME
	export ORACLE_SID
	export PATH
	BACKUP_MEDIA=DISK
	BACKUP_TYPE=FULL_DB_BKUP
	TIMESTAMP=`date +%T-%m-%d-%Y`
	LOG=/export/home/oracle/dumps/pdumps/${ORACLE_SID}_${BACKUP_TYPE}_${BACKUP_MEDIA}_${TIMESTAMP}.log
	export BACKUP_MEDIA
	export BACKUP_TYPE
	export LOG
	export TIMESTAMP
	$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rman log=$LOG <<EOF
	connect target /
	connect catalog rcowner/rcowner@backup1
	run
	{
	allocate channel c1 type disk format
'/export/home/oracle/dumps/pdumps/${ORACLE_SID}_${BACKUP_TYPE}_${TIMESTAMP}_%p_%s.rman';
	backup tag=full_backup incremental level 0 database;
	release channel c1;
	}
	exit
	EOF
