Adding Control file after switching Standby role [message #513228]

We recently switched over from Production(DB1) to physical standby(DB2). I would like to add a controlfile to the DB2 configuration as i am not certain when we will be switching back to DB1. Trying to remain on the safe side with adding the controlfile.

Any suggestions.

There is no relation between primary and standby control files, they can have their own number of them.

So i can just do the following:
To add a multiplexed copy of the current control file or to rename a control file:

1.Shut down the database.

2.Copy an existing control file to a new location, using operating system commands.

3.Edit the CONTROL_FILES parameter in the database initialization parameter file to add the new control file name, or to change the existing control filename.

4.Restart the database.
