how can i use OS security to protect passwordfile.
on 98 and NT.

I'm not sure what you mean by "OS security to protect passwordfile." but password files on servers are usually put in a protected directory, the directory is protected with a dummy .htaccess file, the .htaccess files are written differently for UNIX vs NT vs Cobbalt servers butt creating htaccess files are at apached.org...
