Could anyone please explain the difference between an Audit table and a Log table?

Auditing generally means recording specific changes that have been made to data.
Logging generally means recording that some action happened.

It is just a difference on what you want to do with the data, it is not a difference in the tables.

"log" blindly record information without no intention to use them.
"audit" record information in order to check what has been done.
If you have never the intention to read and analyze what inside an audit trail it is just a log.

In my vision (purely a personal interpretation):
Auditing is for management/reporting to be able to trace who changed what.
Logging is for developers to be able to trace what happened and what actions led to a certain outcome.
