I'm using Oracle 8.1.7 - Enterprise... Following successful installation of a database - which I can access just fine - I can't seem to access the Console. It gives me a VTK-3023 message - saying I must specify at least one management server...
How do I do this? Is there a default server name that is created at installation?

Hi all... I'm still working on this problem and haven't gotten it to work... Any help would be very much appreciated.....
Here is what I have done so far:
I'm using Oracle 8.1.7 - Enterprise... Following successful installation of a database
- which I can access just fine - I can't seem to access the Console.
I used the gui and installed the OEM_Repository.
I looked in NT services and see OracleOraHome81ManagementServer is started and set to automatic.
I created a single database called Intake... When I use the Enterprise Manager Login,
I was prompted for the Management Server which I entered as Intake.
I then try to login using my normal Administrator / Password combination.
BUt then I get the message VTK1000- unable to connect to management server intake...
Should I be see any other entries in tnsnames or sqlnet than for Intake?
P.S.
I used the default name of OEM_Repository. I then allowed it to use a tablespace of temp.
If I want to verify the repository exists, do I use tnsping? what should I put use as
the name? I can tnsping correctly the Intake database - that is working fine.

When U start OEM U should choose a node an give an user/passwd. The user is sysman and the password is oem_temp ( i believe not sure ). There is a box like HELP click on it and U can find the default password for sysman.
After that U'll prompt to change the password.
