What is the difference between "select unique column_name from table_name..."
and "select distinct column_name from table_name..."?

If there is no resulting difference, are they processed differently by the
RDBMS? If so, which is more efficient?

As far as I know there is no difference.

As far as I know, Distinct was Oracle's chosen keyword. Unique is the standards compliant keyword in SQL92 or ANSI or whatever.
