How to get the control back to form from the command prompt after opening a web page usin HOST comnd [message #357968]

I have opened a web page using the HOST command in the form builder module. The problem is that, the control is not returned to the form after the web page is opened thru HOST. Is there any way to get the control back to the form while the web page is still open?

If not, is there any better way to make an active web link on a form ( Like embedding a web link)other than using host?

Suggestions and comments are much appreciated.

Have you read the documentation for the 'host' command? Have you searched this forum for 'host' and looked at the examples?

Hi David,

Thank you for your response.

I did search for Host commands in the forum but could not find a relevant example.

I did read the help doc. in the form builder about host.
For the screen action part of host command there is a 'no parameter' mentioned in the help. But I could not incorporate that in my code. Its giving error.

If you have already come across such an instance kindly post me the direct link to that.

What about the 'no_prompt' and the 'no_screen' options? Did they do anything different for you?

I did use no_promt and no_screen options, but the web page wont be seen though it is invoked. So I dont think we should use no_screen or no_promt options while invoking a web page.

And also when they are used, the control will never return back to the form module as we wont be able to see the web page so that we can close it. It appears as though the form is hung.

Is there any better way ( Some inbuilt procedure) in Oracle to invoke a web page from forms?

Please post your code. Do you use 'cmd' at the beginning of your command?

Hi,

It was a wrong idea to use Host to invoke a web page from forms 6i.
I used dde package and it works fine.

DECLARE
AppID PLS_INTEGER;
BEGIN
AppID := DDE.App_Begin('c:\iexplore.http://in.f76.mail.yahoo.com/',
DDE.App_Mode_Maximized);
END;

Use it... Its cool...
