I don't think you will put a production database on laptop, so "best" is irrelevant.
You can use anyone with a OS supported by Oracle (that is no Windows Home or Familial Edition or the like.
I advice you to have at least 1GB memory.

Hi..,

-Im looking for a Dell Inspiron(TM) 1525 Laptop
-Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T5750
-4GB ( 2 X 2048MB ) 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM
-250GB SATA Hard Drive

Is this configuration sounds nice?
Will my Oracle instance cooperate with this configuration?

OS is Windows Vista home edition(32 bit).Is that enough for Oracle 10G?

I may have to think about some other OS installation..!!
Am I right?

Thanks & Regards

Hardware seems OK to me.

Check whether your operating system is certified with Oracle or not by examining Oracle Certification Matrices.

By the way, what are you going to do with Oracle? Did you consider installing Oracle 10g Express Edition?

"I want to go from Paris to Dakar. Thinking about buying a Citroen 2CV, is that suitable?"

Depends on what you want: do you want a nostalgic trip or do you want to participate in the rally?

Do you want to use it as a development machine, on which you also run a database? If yes, how big will that database be? Will you also need an application server? What processes will you be running, etc.
