Hey Cimode, nice to know you're still alive. As usual, you bring your own personal angle to things. Personally, even though a few here are careful with their prose and a few even have a way with words, I think the only way to nail down the meaning of 'value' is via a formal description of something else such as the operations of an algebra, not the notion itself. I'd guess this is a problem with all spoken languages, if they were any good at describing anything per se, rather than relatively, we couldn't have poetry.
