That all depends. I gave up my subscription to SIGMOD (and indeed ACM membership) a couple of years ago because there was so little content of actual interest or use to me relative to the cost of it. Mind you, there was a whole load of nonsense being bandied around about XML at the time, so maybe that has died off a bit. (SIGPLAN was almost as bad, being mostly about varieties of object oriented and aspect oriented languages, but at least there were the special eds on POPL and FP.)

On the other hand, even if the XML and AOP fads have passed, on past experience they'll probably have found some other equally useless shiny to stare at instead. Received on Sat Jun 17 2006 - 00:51:03 CEST
