_The Little Lisper_ and its successor _The Little Schemer_ by Friedmand and Felleisen.

        _Using Z_ by Davies.

_Everything that Linguists have Always Wanted to Know about Logic_ by McCawley (this was Date’s commendation).

Most things by Date himself, specially the latest eds of his _An Introduction to Database Systems_ and _The Third Manifesto_, _What Not How_, the _Relational Database Writings_ series, and _A Guide to the SQL Standard_.

Pascal’s _Practical Issues in Database Management_ is quite good too.

Greespun’s _Philip and Alex’s Guide to Web Publishing_, even if it’s wrong-headed on DBs.
