You are right. There should be courteous warning.
It could be done with an insert count. The DELETE statement tells you how
many rows were deleted, and "zero rows deleted" is a courteous warning
that no rows statisfied your cirteria.
Likewise, "zero rows inserted" would be sufficient courteous warning, IMO,
that the row was already there.
