Hmm... that's true in theory, but not in practice. AFAIK, Micro$oft has added in optimisations into their C++ compiler that are non-standard, and again AFAIK, before Interbase was bought by Borland, the IB developers made use of some of these advantages, and they couldn't go back - a bit like the giraffe's tongue!

So, you are saying that DB2 code would work "out of the box" with any given C/C++ compiler on any given platform? I doubt it.
